South Dakota Democrat Tim Johnson returns to the Senate floor today, telling colleagues that despite some problems with speaking, his thoughts are clear and his mind is sharp. It was his first trip back to Capitol Hill since a December brain hemorrhage forced emergency surgery and months of therapy. It left him with weakness on his right side and slurred speech. Johnson says his return to Senate duties will be an inch at a time.
