Recent floods in the midwest have communities looking for help. The Burleigh-Morton Chapter of the Red Cross has been asked to provide volunteers to help set up shelters in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Oklahoma. These parts of the country have been devasted by storms over the weekend and many home have been flooded. Jutta Hopkins with the Burleigh Morton red Cross says they are looking for about fifteen people to spend the next ten days to three weeks volunteering in one of the states. She says in order for you to qualify you have to go through a training course. (Jutta Hopkins/ Burleigh-Morton Red Cross) Since recovery from floods takes an extended period of time from weeks to months to sometimes we have shelters open and people need that assistance for extended period of time. The volunteers are needed for an extended period of time. The next training course will be held this Thursday at the Burleigh-Morton Red Cross office starting at six p-m. If you would like to register you can call 223-6700. « Less
