(Ron Tschepen, Farms Near Bisbee) I just really appreciate it. (Ron) I really, really love them. I really I appreciate it. How many times can you say thank you? Well, for Ron Tschepen maybe a thousand, one for every acre of spring wheat and barley that Farm Rescue is harvesting and hauling off his fields. (Jack Limke, Farm Rescue Volunteer) We're taking off wheat right now we're just about done with this field. We started last night, then we've got another field that's probably 150 acres or so that we're going to do. The help this week south of Bisbee, North Dakota comes after a heart attack and quadruple by-pass surgery for Ron. Ron's medical crisis came just as Farm Rescue announced that their helping hands were now extending in the harvest season for the first time ever. (Ron) I read about it in the Ag Week and Bill Gross is the one who called me and said they were going to try and help me out and all we had to do was fill out the paper application. So we filled it out and we got approved and here we are. (Jack) We've got a lot more volunteers for the harvest, everybody wants to run the combine and run the truck. (Ron) I'm just flabbergasted with all the help I've been having. For Ron watching a bumper crop come off the field is almost healing enough. (Ron) It's been running about 50 to 60 bushels an acres of the hard wheat crop we have. The barley was running over 90 and we just got that done yesterday. Enough to keep spirits up and hope alive, knowing he'll be able to climb back into the driver seat next season and harvest yet another crop. (Ron) So it's going to take a while to get healed up. I'm under strict orders to not to do anything for six weeks so I'm taking it easy and I'm feeling a little pain in my chest yet but I'm doing all right. The work for Farm Rescue is farm from over through. After Ron's fields they'll move on to Wilton and in all help 6 farmers harvest their crops this fall. (Jack) I think the harvest part is the funnest part. South of Bisbee with Your Eye On Agriculture, Shaun Sipma, KX News. « Less
