Dog lovers... Get ready to bark in some of the best show dogs in the state and country. Beginning Friday, the Bismarck Kennel Club will host a professional dog show. The B-K-C serves western and centeral North Dakota. But this dog show will feature breeds from all over the region and country. Winners will earn American Kennel Club Championship, and some of the dogs will qualify for the national competition. Dogs will competing in several categories and will be awarded in Best in Breed, Best in Group and Best in Show. (Bill Nieland, President of Bismarck Kennel Club): The American Kennel Club actually has produced a flyer or a study that shows what kind of economic impact this may have, and we can... depending on the size of show and everything... we could expect maybe as much as a half million dollars impact on the economy over the weekend. Christine Becker of Mandan will be showing her dog Bambi. She's been breeding and showing dogs for years. Bambi is a Doberman Pincher, and has been in several professional shows before. (Christine Becker, Shows Dogs): She's been around the block a few times, and her full brother is also going to be in the show. He's coming in from Fargo. He's already an International Champion, and that's also his son, and so we'll be well represented in our home town. This is the first professional dog show in Bismarck. The dog show runs Friday through Sunday at the Bismarck Civic Center.  « Less
