The Nodak Speedway will be busy this weekend with the annual running of the Roughrider Classic. The three day event kicks off tonight and runs through Sunday and gives racing fans of all types to get a chance to see a variety of racing. Scot Fuchs, Nodak Speedway Manager:We've got a unique format tonight. We've got modified stock cars and hobby stocks, tomorrow night we've got B mods, late models and sprint cars and Sunday night we've got all 6 classes competing so it should be a great show. It's been awfully wet which has made for some great race tracks. We've had some real wet, tacky tracks as it really shows off the horsepower. We don't need any more rain. We could use some sun like we got today and hopefully that will continue. Racing fans will also get a chance to meet two time Busch Nascar champion Randy Lajoie this weekend. Lajoie is in town to promote safety with a special car seat that he would like to see used at all levels of racing. Randy Lajoie, Busch Nascar champion:I've got some safety videos. Just to get to the short trackers what the nascar upper three levels know about safety. It hasn't trickled down quick enough. I need to be out here and my company needs to be out here. I have a great product and a wonderful driving seat that people don't understand you can get hurt doing this stuff. Lajoie says his safety seat is now being used by World of Outlaws champion and Minot native Donny Schatz. Lajoie:Donny just put one in about a month ago as a matter of fact. He was one of the guys on tour that I was beating up pretty hard cause he didn't have nothing. You know we've learned in the industry that the less you move the better you're gonna be. Action begins at 6 p.m. each night.  « Less
