You chew them, crack 'em, and spit them. A lot of timesyou find yourselves sharing with others. But just what is it that has people grabbing them by the sack full. Brad Feldman has the details on a national competition. (Sound) seeds Like a winning lottery ticket, these are things you just have to get your hands on. (Sound) seeds (Nicole Mathern) I grab a sack right before the big game (Stacy Sturm) I grab 'em when I am driving (Nicole Mathern) I grab other peoples It's an effort to promote a growing industry in North Dakota. (Nicole Mathern) The winner gets ten thousand dollars with the theme of grab 'em by the sack. Mathern and her partner in crime, Stacy Sturm, are taking part in a national contest to help promote sunflower seeds. The title of the contest Grab 'em by the sack. (Nicole Mathern) It's not a contest that makes my mother proud by any means. (Larry Kliengartner/ National Sunflower Association) The grab 'em by the sack concept really I think grabs your attention as a young male adult. Besides grabbing attention it's planting a seed for peoples creative ideas. The Grab 'em by the Sack video contest is being put on by the National Sunflower Association. Teams have twelve weeks to submit a two minute video that will then be voted on by you. In the end, the twelve weekly winners will go up against each other for a chance to take home ten thousand dollars. (Larry Kleingartner/ National Sunflower Association) We thought we would just think out of the box this year. For the team of Mathern and Sturm, they will have to come up with another video. Their original piece placed second in the first round of voting. (Nicole Mathern) But we have a couple other concepts and I know my partner in crime here I'm sure will come up with some extra input in those. This team is bound and determined to grab more than seeds by the sack. They want to grab a sack of cash when the contest is over.
