an early morning computer glitch that caused hundreds of flight cancelations nationwide has now been fixed. but it's still causing some problems. austin reed is live from the sunport to tell us how it's affecting flights here in albuquerue. it's our top story at noon. minute thumbnail 12:01 pm austin? since the problem has been taken care of ...that's very good news for passengers here at the sunport. the lines are short... and by the looks of this monitor, right now pretty much every flight is on time. yet, officials here still say there could be a backlash of delays later today, from other airports... i heard it was a computer glitch and it was gonna be affecting flights today, so i thought, check my flight, make sure it's on time, and come to the airport early it all started up in salt lake city. one of the biggest airline hubs in the country. the f-a-a says a large scale computer glitch forced dispatchers to send airline plans and routes to controllers, who then had to enter those into other computers by hand. this is not impacting systems that deal with communications or tracking of flights, so safety is not compromised in any way in albuquerque, and all of new mexico- the operations weren't affected as bad because first off: there are no airline hubs, plus it didn't happen here-- but still: the impact was felt everywhere... minute thumbnail 12:02 pm right now we are seeing some delays here at the sun-port, there is a bigger impact at some of the larger hubs but we will see some trickle down effects throughout the day and with thanksgiving less than a week away now, passengers we talked too hope this kind of problem won't happen again... it makes me think about maybe driving or something like that, alternative travel planes, but i'm sure they'll get it together just to be safe, you do want to make sure you check your airline's status before you head out today...the sunport has all the listings online...go to.. our website, kob.com and click 4 links to find it. live from the sunport, ar, ewn4m. the f-a-a computer problems are fixed-- in time for today's new flights from santa fe-- tlos angeles. american airlines carrier-- american eagle-- starts its new non stop flight today. the idea is to serve tourists and film industry professionals. this-- after the airline says it got minute thumbnail 12:03 pm good response-- with the non stop flights between santa fe and dallas-- added over the summer. « Less
