At least one Owens Community College official said Wednesday that the loss of the nursing college accreditation that forced four students to file a class action lawsuit against the school, is far from making everything right. The college will have to regain the trust of its nursing students after losing national accreditation. Owens officials said it wasn't that they didn't meet the requirements, it was the fact that the paperwork proving it never made it to the outside organization. In response to the loss of accreditation within its nursing program, earlier this month Owens Community College established a School of Nursing and appointed Dawn Whetmore as the school of nursing's dean. The School of Nursing is expected to be operating by Jan. 4, the first day of spring semester for students. « Less
