When someone mentions food fighthurling hashbrowns or tossing tomatoes may come to mind... But in this case....we're talking about a fight to stand-up for the food you raise. The Beef Check off is fighting to elimate the negative, false information about the industry that is floating in the mainstream media. The checkoff is calling all beef producers to become a part of the fight aganist the anti-beef messages that are out there. Sheyna Strommen with the North Dakota Stockmen's Association is sending producers public service announcements for local papers, letter to the editor ideas and messages for facebook and twitter accounts. (Sheyna Strommen / ND Stockmen's Assn.)"The food fight really gives producers those tools to start a conversation with consumers and to start a conversation with their friends and neighbors and to tell even people in North Dakota why we do what we do. We have a good story to tell." Strommen says farmers and ranchers make-up less than 2 percent of the population, yet 97% of the beef in America is raised on family farms and ranches. She says terms like factory farming...need to be elimated and consumers need the true story. And there are reasons why you are doing what you are doing. That people even in North Dakota might not understand rotational grazing systems, or minimum till farming and how that can help improve the land, air and resources around us.
