What sort of changes should North Dakota's Human Service Department seek from the next legislative session? That's a question officials of the department are trying to answer through a series of public meetings around the state. Department Executive Director Carol Olson says meeting the local organizations that work with Human Services, helps her in formulating budget requests and legislative issues that need addressing. She says the turnout at last week's Minot meeting is encouranging because it shows the people who deliver vital services to North Dakotans are concerned about doing it well. (Carol Olson, ND Human Service Director) "There's no better place to really find out what is really going on in the state than to get out of the capitol, get out to the regions where the people are who are receiving the services because we get consumers and clients who receive our services as well. We want to hear from the people in the regions who are very much a part of our programs and services." The Human Service Department administers programs such as Medicaid and senior services across the state. It will post results of the series of meetings on its website.  « Less
