It might seem a little premature for Minot High's Class of 2009 to be looking back on the past four years, but surveying recent graduates' opinions of the high school experience provides some of the district's most valuable information about what's going on inside the classroom. The annual post-grad survey ranges from simple demographic questions to evaluating the learning experience and preparation for life beyond high school...as well as checking to make sure certain teaching goals were met. This batch of data showed consistently high satisfaction numbers from recent grads, but principal Mark Vollmer says it also shows administrators areas that may need improvement, like counseling services or preventing bullies in the classroom. (Mark Vollmer / Magic City Campus Principal) "What we look for are trends or things that are pointed out in the survey that are a little lower than what we like to see. In general the questions that remain the same are: 'have you had a positive learning experience?' We have traditionally kept a very high number with very little different number over the past 11 years." Surveyors also try to follow up with students three and five years post-graduation.
