Twenty years ago today... ...the wall came crumbling down. People in Berlin Germany did what they could to tear down the wall that seperated the city. Erica Hursey of Bismarck was in Berlin the week after the wall started being torn down. Her husband was in the military and stationed at Ramstein Air Force Base. These are some pieces from the actual wall. She says seeing the passion the people had to tear down the wall is something she will never forget. (Erica Hursey/ Witnessed Berlin Wall Fall) "There were still guards in between the two walls so teh east germans were still there guarding it was very dangerous. people didnt care, people didnt care. It was the one thing that they could do and they did it and they were yielding those pick axes and I mean big pick axes they were just swinging them like crazy. every chunk that came out they were getting closer and closer." Hursey says she has been at several major world events...including the funeral for Princess Diana...but she says watching the Berlin Wall is the most memorable.  « Less
