Aaron Stewart of West Toledo saved a child and mother from a burning home on Macomber Street late Monday morning, Toledo police said. The fire ignited and spread on the second floor of the duplex at around 11 a.m. Stewart said he smelled smoke and realized his neighbor needed help getting out of the home. "I ran up the stairs, then down, then up," he said. "I screamed, 'get to a window! Get somewhere! Stay low! Get to a window.' Then we heard something bust. It was the window, and I got my ladder." He was able to get both of them out of the burning structure to safety. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.  « Less
