a group of grafitti artists say someone has it out for them. instead of spraypainting on railcars, the artists use a building near nob hill as their canvas for a huge outdoor mural. but early this morning the mural was vandalized and destroyed. kayla anderson is live near central and morningside with the story. kayla? this morning this entire wall--was covered in colorful grafitti art. the artists have permission to paint here and say it's a way to showcase their work. now, you can see, they had to paint over it with primer-- after someone threw green paint all over the wall-- ruing all of their artwork. david abeita painfully laps primer over his own artwork. minute thumbnail 10:05 pm early this morning someone drove up in a green car and threw green pain across the mural-- destroying dozens of paintings by various graffiti artists from around the state. bill richardson owns a guitar repair shop near the community mural. when he came into work, he saw someone painting on the mural-- but didn't realize what was going on until it was too late. richardson says it's sad someone would ruin the community project. he says the mural has become a well known landmark for the neighborhood-- minute thumbnail 10:06 pm and provides a safe place for graffiti artists to do their art. the artists say they'll continue using this wall as a canvas. they'll be back out here, starting at noon tomorrow, to create a new mural. reporting live near central and carlisle, kayla anderson, eyewitness news 4  « Less
