The summer season will soon be coming to an end, and that means road construction projects will soon be wrapping up as well. Crews for one andamp;lt;a href=andamp;quot;http://www.kxnet.com/t/minot-ndandamp;quot; class=andamp;quot;kxInlineLinkandamp;quot;andamp;gt;Minotandamp;lt;/aandamp;gt; road project have been hard at work throughout the past few months, and as Dan Erdmann reports, they're glad to see the finish line in sight. (Nat Sound: Construction Equipment) (Dan Erdmann, KX News) Another day over, and another day closer to completion of the Highway 2 and 52 Bipass bridge project. (Don Mohagen, Project Engineer) andamp;quot; They're coming to the end, there's a lot of work to be done yet, but it'll start to happen in a hurry.andamp;quot; (Dan Erdmann, KX News) And hurry they will, with snow season fast approaching. Don Mohagen has served as project engineer for the bridge construction throughout the summer. He says so far, he's pleased with the work that's been done. (Don Mohagen, Project Engineer) andamp;quot; It's pretty much on schedule. It's scheduled to be completed in the middle of October and if the weather permits, that shouldn't be a problem.andamp;quot; (Dan Erdmann, KX News) Recently, crews have been preparing for one of the biggest phases of the project- the pouring of concrete across the bridge. Mohagen says that phase should take place later this week or early next week, and it's something he's been looking forward to all summer. (Don Mohagen, Project Engineer) andamp;quot; That's always a major milestone in a bridge project is when the deck gets poured. It looks like a new bridge then.andamp;quot; (Dan Erdmann, KX News) When the bridge is finished, it will sit about 4 feet higher than the old one. That means crews will also be raising the road east of the bridge to match up with the change in height. Mohagen says the work will take more than a few days to complete, but he's anxious to see the finished product. (Don Mohagen, Project Engineer) andamp;quot; That's always a good feeling to have it completed and traffic back to normal. It's always a good time.andamp;quot; (Dan Erdmann, KX News) A time that's sure to bring smiles to the faces of drivers, (Nat sound: Driving) and the workers who made it all possible. Dan Erdmann, KX News. Mohagen says drivers have adjusted well to travel restrictions near the project, and there may be a few more changes to adjust to before normal traffic flow is restored. « Less
