For the first time ever, the 35th annual Birmingham Ethnic Festival, which celebrates the Hungarian culture along Consaul and Front streets, held its first ever pickle eating contest. Sponsored by Tony Packo's Cafe, it original pickles are not your normal veggie. Their pickles are rather spicy. Although he's not Takeru Kobayashi or Joey Chestnut, Joe Rychnovsky loves Tony Packo's. So, he entered the contest, which was held Aug. 16, in the St. Stephen's parking lot, and took the Joe's FOX Challenge.
