but we do want things to clear up for fireworks. >> we are starting to see a break in the rain which is a good thing because as it continues to break up, that means some of the fireworks this evening can actually go on as planned. crossing our fingers for that. it has been a rain-cooled july 4. 70 degrees was our high temperature today. 15 below where we should be for this time of year. right now even cooler than that at 63 and picking up 1/2 inch of rain sofar. and here is the rain. you can see the breaks just north of indianapolis and also back to the west and the heavier rain is to our south through parts of bloomington, brown county, also in through seymour right now and that's indicated by the yellowish-orange color you see on the screen. we will widen out the focus on forecast 8 vipir and we have the rain that looks like it's beginning to end back through parts of central and western illinois and you can see the breaks starting to break on through. and even starting to see a little bit of breakage here through parts of central indiana which is good news because as it continues to break by that 9:00, 10:00 hour when most of the firework wills go off, it looks like some of them could be a go. rainwise we have had 1/2 inch here and nearly an inch in bloomington. under about 1/4 inch around shelbyville and under 1/2 inch in lafayette. and definitely been seeing rainy conditions all day and picking up about 1/2 inch here and could see maybe a tenth more into the rest of the evening but by this evening a few scattered showers and we will see some breaks and some rain and some breaks in the rain as we go into that 9:00, 10:00 hour. cloudy skies and some areas of fog with temperatures in the 60s. forecast 8 futurecast shows that rain beginning to break up into the overnight hours and we will stay cloudy by tomorrow morning with temperatures around 60 degrees when we start the day off on sunday and the good news for sunday sit will be a cloudy start. however, we will start to see sunshine. if you weren't able to get outside an enjoy the fourth today, definitely do it tomorrow. tomorrow will be brighter and nicer and also warmer. temperatures expected to be around 78 degrees. even after sunday, monday, tuesday, and the next couple of days even after that we will stay in a dry period and temperatures are going to actually increase. we're looking at 90-degree weather once again. definitely feeling like summer by tend of the next five days. you can see the 80s will be in the forecast for the middle of the work week. and then 90 degrees by thursday and it has not melt like summer at all for the last couple of days. we will begin to feel like summer into the upcoming work week. >> great, although we needed that today. >> of all days accomplished nothing. but one political group is keeping very busy through all of this. tea new york plans to take them to court for three different reasons. today's rally in niagara square is about more than just a protest with signs. demonstrators are actually trying to find ways to stop the senators from continuing to play their childish games. those are the words of rus thompson - the founder of the new political force "tea new york." ((we filed a lawsuit to stop their pay and then they were all served wednesday and then late in the afternoon the comptroller tom dinapoli goes to court to get the judge's permission to stop the senate's pay.)) thompson thinks the comptroller's move was a direct result of the lawsuit filed by his supporters. the lawsuit isn't the only course of action senators may face from fed up taxpayers. stopping their pay is at the top of the list - ((we're also looking at making it retroactive. i mean they got paid last wednesday for doing two weeks of nothing.)) there's even talk about formal charges. ((according to new york state penal law by their willful refusal to do their jobs it's a class a misdemeanor and they could be looking at up to a year in jail.)) the senate has not passed a bill since june third. senators refuse to work together to pass critical and overdue bills for taxpayers and school kids. governor paterson is insisting senators continue to meet even if nothing gets done. that's exactly what happened during today's session according to senator michael ranzenhofer. ((there were a number of bills that the governor had asked us to take a look at but i think the governor's taken the position that he's in the process of negotiations so the debate is on hold.)) ((lt. sal colangelo-buffalo fire dept.-we set up surveillance and we verified through surveillance that there was indeed fireworks in the building)) around 6 thousand dollars worth of fireworks! investigators say it's a pretty sophisticated operation, with plenty of commerical grade pyrotechnics. the garage is owned by art steel (sp?) who is ironically a demolition contractor, often hired by the city to demolish vacant or charred homes following fires. he has not been charged with anything yet, but is facing fireworks possession charges.
