thank
you
both
for

>
>
i
found
out
that
my
brain
tumor
had
come
back
after
i
was
on
the
show
last
year.
on
august
29th
i
had
my
surgery
and
i
was
really
scared
but
i
do
the
doctors
and
everyone
there
would
take
good
care
of
me
when
i
woke
up
i
realized
i
could
not
move
any
of
the
right
side
of
my
body
and
since
then
i've
been
going
to
therapy
>
>christine:
has
been
a
long
recovery
process
but
you
are
an
inspiration
because
you
are
only
13,
thiis
obviously
important
to
and
that
is
why
you
are
here,
you
of
some
of
the
amazing
stories
and
this
is
why
you
want
to
get
the
word
out
>
>
the
children's
miracle
hospital
will
be
hosting
their
36th
hour
telethon
and
you
will
hear
compelling
stories
from
families
to

been
treated
and
have
had
amazing
experiences.
peyton
really
is
an
inspiration
for
me
and
all
of
us
>
>christine:
the
money
raised
will
stay
here
in
colorado?
>
>
last
year
the
denver
community
really
surprised
us,
we
are
hoping
to
make
another
million
dollar
miracle
for
the
hospital
next
week
>
>christine:
i
was
able
to
take
part
last
year
but
for
a
lot
of
people
who
may
not
realize
it,
the
hospital
is
helping
it
lot
of
people
but
for
you
this
is
special?
>
>
yes
the
children's
hospital
of
colorado
has
been
my
savior
and
the
people
there
help
you
go
through
it
even
though
it
is
hard
to
cheer
you
up
and
it
is
just
amazing
there
>
>christine:
you
are
helping
a
lot
of
kids
out
there,
faq
for
sharing
your
story
we
really
appreciate
it.

<media:text>downtown palm springs. kmir6's angela monroe joins us with what's new about this year's event. elizabeth, this year's tour de palm springs is bigger than ever... more riders, more vendors, more money raised for charity... and even more music. Nats music MUSIC RINGS DOWN THE streets of palm springs as the tour de jazz kicks off the tour DE PALM SPRINGS. "It's like a miniature New Orleans, right on Bourbon street, so its just an awesome start, next year we hope to double the amount of Jazz bands, but whats great is to see all the people shopping downtown, the hotels sold out." the vendors and starting line are right in the heart of downtown palm springs this year. "We've been really pleased with it, we've had a really good presence from the crowd, a lot of people coming by." AND STORE owners say they are getting more TRAFFIC THIS YEAR TOO... "It's a great idea that they have the Tour de Jazz starting this weekend because the idea is it will help keep people entertained while they are downtown." 11-THOUSAND RIDERS are expected to attend the event... and that means they're CYCLING BUSINESS INTO TOWN. "We know last year we raised about 180-thousand dollars for the local restaurants and hotels, and we're hoping this year will be even more, we do know that the local hotels are sold out but more importantly its for the charities." THIS YEAR THEY HOPE to raise 300-thousand for 157 charities. and repeat riders help out with that... this is carsten brandt's fourth tour de palm springs... and he's come ALL THE WAY FROM DENMARK. "Oh the beautiful area, we love it, we love to stay here, we enjoy the warmth, the nature, and just cycling around in nature." DON trepany will bike the 100 mile RIDE. "Do it in about 6 hours, some guys do it faster, some people do it slower, so I think six hours will be a good time." but first, many riders enjoyed the night of JAZZ. nat music out just a reminder if you are just a reminder if you are heading downtown to palm springs tonight or tomorrow, expect some traffic delays and road closures. palm canyon drive between tahquitz canyon and amado will be closed until 6 o'clock tomorrow evening. northbound indian canyon from amado to tachevah will be reduced to one lane from 6 to 11 tomorrow morning as well. and a couple or riders will not only start and finish the 55 mile ride tomorrow... they will start their life together as a married couple after the ride. the tour de palm springs founder says the couple will marry on the stage around 3 tomorrow afternoon. things are finally getting back</media:text>

<media:text>the american heart association says nearly one in 350 children have a dangerous underlying heart condition. cardiac arrest can come on suddenly and without warning. and as we've learned it can easily become deadly. but if a defibrillator is used within 5 minutes it can increase long-term survival by 50 percent. an astounding amount that has one local high school student determined to put an aed in every grand valley school. 3 we first introduced you to robert harrison in may of last year when he started his quest to buy aeds. 3.25 all the schools in the valley is my main goal. now because of his campaign and the help of others in the community three of the four high schools have the device and people certified to use it. 16-211.36 we almost have enough money to get one in fruita, we are just a few hundred dollars off. with tight budgets it's impossible for schools to buy the 12-hundred dollar devices themselvesjohn bilbo 26-32 principal, gjhs9.52 we couldn't ask for a better solution to possibly stave off a problem with one of our students. robert and his family started from the heart for the heart because of wes leonard. a 16 year old basketball player who collapsed and died lt year afr making a game-winning shot. some say an aed could have saved his life. 46-525.05 we just thought well could that happen in our schools and ya of course it could happen anywhereso robert did something about it, that's an aed he helped buy -- standing guard at junction's basketball game tonight2.30 it's good to know that players are safe that if something is going to happen or would happen that they'd be there. ron harrison4.35 hopefully this aeds never get used that's the goal but to have him see something that he could have an affect on immediately and in the future is really great. last week another colorado athlete went into cardiac arrest. tristan white died after collapsing during wrestling practice. this tragic reminder of the need for aeds has made robert more determined than ever to complete his project.3.03 that's the whole thing that i am doing with this , it's ust one thing but it could help save lives. 1.04 surprising and disappointed because it's not much money for something that could save someone's life. 3 with over 30 schools in the district robert still has a long way to go. to help you can buy one of these bracelts or donate on "from the heart, for the heart" dot org. robert and his dad are also looking for businesses to help sponsor an aed for a school . for more information you can head to our website kjct 8 dot com. 3</media:text>

<media:text>planning advocates are calling this change a major win for womens healthcare, but members of the catholic establishment say they're not ready to celebrate just yet. fox23's julie tremmel joins us now with reaction to the colicated healthcare revision president obama announced will be added to the final proposal, julie? julie as part of obamas healthcare plan set for 2013, all u.s. employers would be required to cover contraception at no cost for workers. and even though the proposal does provide a narrow exemption for churches, the thousands of ministries attached to those religious institutions were still mandated to provide direct birth control. but today's announcement could change that. pkg pkg if the latest revision takes hold, ministries associated with churches, like religious hospitals or colleges, would no longer be required to directly provide access to contraception. instead, the businesses' insurance company would be mandated to make it available for free 20:22 They'll ask each employee they'll say this is part of a package that's available to you, do you want that package 29 and it's up to you to say yes or no 32 at first, the revision sounds like a major win for a group like the new york state catholic conference. dennis poust/ dir of communications ny state catholic conference 1:52- we're not ready to claim victory yet, but the devil is going to be in the details 56 the concern is that the contraception cost could still end up being paid by the religious ministry. 3:49- who is paying for it? The employer is the one who pays the premium, so, are we indirectly paying for it? 53 we just have to see how he works it out 55 at planned parenthood, the move is positive step for women all the way around. blue carikker/ vice president for public affairs and marketing at upper hudson planned 18:41- seemless access to birth control through their insurance policies, 47 through their employer insurance policies regardless of where they work 52 cariker says no woman should ever have to choose between an unplanned pregnancy, and groceries. 19:02- He's clarifying that, within this policy, which is part of ensuring that all Americans are covered for their basic preventative healthcare needs, and birth control must be a part of basic prevention healthcare, 15 but she was also unclear as to where, exactly the money to fund the coverage would come from. 21:57-21:59 It's a legitimate question and I'm sure we'll get a legitimate answer to it 6:51 so we're hoping to see the language soon, or is this some game that they're playing where they're not going to even put out anything until after the election and tehn go back on their word 7:01 julie it's been ten years since new york required all employers, including regious institutions, to cover birth control, but, many large employers with multi-state policies are still exluded from the mandate. planned parenthood says with this revision, thousands of women across the state will eventually have better access to contraception. in the studio, julie tremmel, fox23 news. ann up in washington</media:text>

<media:text>unlocked the secret to helping children with autism get through school. a new grant has put i-pads in the hands of more than a dozen kids.. and is already making a huge difference. newssource 16's chris mckee is in the studio to tell us about the special program. just over two weeks ago.. albany schools rolled out the ipads.. 14 in all.. for a special communications classroom at liberty elementary. today.. the devices are helping kids.. who normally have a hard time learning. debra redpath uses the i-pads in her classroom of 13... third to fifth grade kids.. all diagnosed with a form of autism. children with autism struggle with reading.. writing. hand-eye coordination.. also..ocial skills and social rules like sharing and taking turns. staying on task.. can extremely difficult too. she says kids with autism need repetion.. and highly visual learning. miss redpath says the i-pads do just that.. keeping kids on-task.. and learning.. with individual attention. ("The progress has been faster because of the visuals, because of the immediate feedback and because it looks like its in game format, so that's been highly motivating for the students, which has kept them on task.") the district's technology coach.. tim haygh helped get the i-pads through a grant. while he knows there's criticism out there.. that an i-pad can be seen as a toy.. the district is using the devices.. for a specific.. focused use. ("It is a personal learning partner ++STITCH++If you play to the technology's strength, than its going to pay off and the strength is audio, video, playback and rehearsal and practice.") kids were using the i-pads today to work on fractions.. and, it helped them learn the subject faster than ever before. albany schools says at this point.. it's too early to tell ithey'll buy more i-pads. they're continuing to find new uses for the device, as more.. new learning "apps" are added. in the studio.. chris mckee.. newssource 16. most parents know</media:text>

<media:text>"now, kxan austin news @ 5"3 3 you can call it a "contraception compromise". after a firestorm of protest, president obama has backed off a controversial birth control policy. policy. it would have forced religious based hospitals and clinics to provide contraception to their employees - something strongly opposed by the catholic church. 3 kxan's "david scott" has reaction to today's policy retreat. 3 3 3 "the catholic church was up in arms over the obama contraception policy. a policy requiring religious organizations to provide contraception, sterilization and the morning after pill, things that ardirectly opposed by the church. today they consider this backtracking at least a partial victory." after taking growing heat for days, with catholics making up 25% of the electorate in a campaign year, the president relented, a bit. bit."religious organizations won't have to pay for these services and no religious institution will have to provide these services directly...but women who work at these institutions will have access to free contraceptive service just like other woman." woman."some catholics even vowed to go to jail if need be to oppose the policy. a week ago austin biop joe vasquez issued this proclamation to his congregations: "we cannot-we will not-comply with this unjust law. people of faith cannot be made second class citizens." today the diocese' spokesman had this to say. say."we still have some concerns about the revisions because we haven't seen the entire plan yet. once that comes out, we want to hold judgement until that comes out. but we're optimistic and believe what the administration did is a step in the right direction. direction."the seton health care family, a major non-profit that treats 1.8- million central texans...today said it is pleased with the dialogue between the catholic health association and the department of health and human services. some think the backlash took the administration by surprise. surprise."i think they were probably surprised, the administration was surprised, but honestly this is something catholics are good at doing. we can mobilize, we respond and we let our voices be heard."tricky ethical questions remain. religious organizations won't pay for or provide the contraceptive services directly, but they will pay the premiums to insurance companies that will.</media:text>

<media:text>jess. >> interesting. thanks, bill. >>> the city of woodbury is trying to get its residents informed about an alternative form of cpr. it's hands-only cpr and accident happen require the use of mouth-to-mouth resuscitation that so many of us learned in school. the city has a goal of training 7,000 people this year. and we are joined by woodbury firefighter angela kain and dr. paul satterlee. thanks for coming in to talk about this. so let's talk about it. i think what we have probably learned in school was the mouth-to-mouth. >> right. >> this is not it? >> no. there is a couple barriers. one of them is the concern about doing mouth-to-mouth, with someone you don't know, and you might hurt somebody if you stted doing compressions. >> but you said something key. >> you can't hurt somebody. you can break ribs but not hurt them or their heart. if you do compressions and you find out their sleeping, so we want people to be thinking it's an ok thing to get involved with >> angela, you will demonstrate this for us and walk us through what we should be doing because we are not worried about the mouth. it's just the compressions. >> right. if you see someone that collapses, run up to them, are you ok? are you ok? call 9-1-1. grab a knee, and just go in the center of the chest, two inches down, and do 100 compressions a minute. and just continue to do that until somebody arrives from an ambulance or, or additional medical assistance. >> ok. but, the key is here, to get everyone, i mean, not you guys, but a trained personnel, but all of us to be able to jump in and help. >> exactly. >> and why is that? >> well, simply because we have made a lot of advancements in cardiac survival in terms of AEDs, BUT WHEN SOMEONE collapses, they are not collapsing in front of a hospital room. they are collapsing where they play or visiting with other people, so it's the people, that we need to build up their confidence and their participation and let them know, it's ok to call 9-1-1. it's needed to do those compressions, if you want this person to survive. and it's so simple. >> yeah, it's so simple. >>> quickly, the goal is to get 7,000 people in woodbury trained? >> absolutely. >> and you can do that with this. >> this is a take-home cpr education device. it used to be that you would have to go for four hours and sit in a class. but there does not take that. there is a model in this, and there is a dvd in this that you can plug in, and you can learn it. nothing embarrassing, and you can teach your family and friends, and just try to get all the people willing to participate. >> is it, is there a cost or -- >> there is. >> so we have all that information on our website? >> absolutely. >> but you want people to take these and learn it at home? >> wonderful. >> thanks for coming? >> and the first cpr training session is from 6:30 to 8:00 30 on monday at theoodbury public safety building on radio drive. we have set up more information on our website at kstp.com. go there and click on links to find out how you can get one of</media:text>

our
medical
edge-
researchers
have
encouraging
news
for
women
who
find
themselves
in
a
very
frightening
situation:
having
cancer
while
pregnant.
researchers
say
chemotherapy
during
pregnancy
-
appears
to
be
safe.
the
news
is
based
on
research
that
examined
the
health
of
70
children
who
were
exposed
to
chemotherapy
in
the
womb
during
the
final
two-thirds
of
pregnancy.
researchers
found
these
kids
were
not
at
an
increased
risk
of
heart,
hearing
or
general
health
problems.
we
wanted
to
follow
up
on
our
story
about
the
two
local
teens--
best
friends
and
cousins--
battling
cancer.
they
are
clearing
some
big
hurdles
with
their
treatment.
15
year
old
mareesa
boyatzies
has
lymphoma,
her
cousin,
14
year
old
katie
foster
is
being
treated
for
a
rare
soft
tissue
cancer.
they
were
diagnosed
a
day
a
part.
the
cousins
who
grew
up
doing
everything
togher
are
now
doing
chemo
together.
but
there's
progress.
mareesa
finishes
her
treatment
next
week
and
katie's
tumor
is
gone.
throughout
it
all,
they
have
kept
a
sense
of
humor!
When
we
were
in
the
hospital
we
had
competions.
Who
would
throw
up
the
most
from
chemo.
Who
won?
You
did.
No
you
did.
Yea.
Congratulations!
I
know
she
knows
exactly
what
I'm
talking
about--
even
if
they're
not
going
through
the
exact
same
thing
at
the
same
moment.
the
girl's
mothers
are
sisters.
they
say
what's
getting
them
through
is
the
belief
they
are
sharing
this
journey
to
help
others.
saturday
there
is
a
fundraiser
in
honor
of
katie
and
mareesa
to
benefit
groups
that
have
helped
them,
like

<media:text>move over starbucks...there's a new caffeine fix in town. people are starting to inhale their caffeine.these are aeroshots.it's a lipstick-sized tube that sprays about 100 milligrams of caffeine into your mouth. that's about the same amount found in a large coffee.we asked doctor shan yin, the medical director of cincinnati's poison center, about aeroshots today. "heart palpatations, heart beating, faster heart skiping a beat. For somebody who had a heart problem that could lead to more serious heart rhythms even potentially a heart attackTHERE'S GROWING concern from medical experts and congress that this could become a "club drug". the ride to and from school</media:text>

<media:text>>>> all this week we've been having the kids cooking challenge, so let's look at the five finalists. teresa why do you think this dish is a top five finalist, why did it make the cut? >> couscous is a grain and it's made out of wheat. this is a whole wheat that she's called in here and it's a great source of protein and fbi, third cup six grams of fiber and six grams of protein. that goes a long ways, you only need a little bit and it's a great substitute instead of rice or pasta. >> very nice. i would love to give it a try and while i do that why do you want to win? >> i want to prove to people that you don't have to eat meat to have healthy food. you can have organic and vegetarian. >> thank you very much. >> do you have any friends that are vegetarians? >> no, i don't think so. >> let's talk about your snack. is this a snack, dessert, what is it, it smells delicious? >> it can be a healthy snack or dessert. >> so good. what is it? >> it's like apples with some oatmeal and a little bit of brown sugar and cinnamon. >> teresa, i know you said you haven't yet tried this dish, we'll get you another fork here eventually. what do you think makes this recipe a top five finalist? >> you know, the main ingredient is apples and apples are definitely delicious. they're low in calorie and they're a great source of fiber. >> i love this is just so delicious. this is -- tastes better than a lot of the junk stuff you can get which is wonderful because i think when a lot of people think about healthy foods they think about meals, it's nice to get flavorful stuff. >> if you had your chance to sit down a judge and tell them why this dish should win what would you tell them? >> i'd tell them it would be really healthy because the peels on the apples, they're really good. >> vitamins in them. >> for a lot of young people being healthy is not necessarily super important and we know it's very important to be healthy as a young kid and, of course, as an adult as well. why is it so important for you to make something so delicious but also healthy at your age? >> so then you can kind of be active more and just not like stand around. you can try new things. >> yeah, absolutely. >> why did you decide to enter this contest? >> um, i really like cooking and i figured it would be a good experience 'cause i kind of want to open my own restaurant. >> we love the cooks coming on. >> how did you find out about the contest? >> my p.e. teacher was talking to us and then we've been doing the walk-on challenge for a couple years at our school so she told us to try to enter the contest. >> all right. let's talk about the delicious dish that you brought with us today. looks like a cereal bowl, tell us what this is, whatever it is it looks delicious. >> it's a healthy pie but it's healthier than usual pies. >> it's a pie. all right. tell us what it's made of. you've got the blueberries on top. what else is on there? >> graham crackers, butter, milk and fruit. >> not too much butter, though. >> no. >> i would say, i don't think anyone's going to disagree with me, i say we al devour this, what do you think? ann, why don't you take one, teresa, as well as kiley. i've never had the combination of whipped cream with cream cheese. >> me either. >> i'm interested to see what that tastes like. >> very good. >> oh, my gosh. wow. so this is a really good substitute, right, kiley, for kind of like those junk sort of snacks that you can really easily pick out of the pantry or something like that. >> do you eat this as a snack or a dessert? >> as a snack. >> very good. and i want to know about this part right here because that looked really good, i like this plate, it's so pretty, what's inside? >> well, all that is is greek yogurt stirred a whole bunch to get it creamier and then sugar-free chocolate syrup. >> good idea. >> why did you decide on sugar-free, why was that important? >> because i know sugar isn't -- sugar-free things are healthier than things that have sugar. >> yeah. >> what makes this one of the top five finalists. >> main ingredient is fruit. and as you can see, you can choose any type of fruit that you want so it doesn't have to be one specific one. >> yeah. >> and very high in fiber. and good vitamins as well. >> yeah. addison, why would you say that folks should vote for your creative and beautiful dish? >> because it has a whole bunch of different fruits, it's very colorful so -- >> it can be any fruit you want, right? >> yeah. >> not only healthy but pretty, too, right? >> yes. and you also have a choice of dipping it or not. >> that's true. >> perfect. >> so you can have it multiple different ways. >> i like that. >> i'm hungry. >> future chefs of america. >> i know. >> all young ladies we noticed. >> nothing we noticed -- we think that this is our idea, we think they picked them based on beautiful names. >> they did all have beautiful i named. >> have you ever heard that name before. athena, what a great name. what a strong name. >> we do want to remind you you can go watch al of those segments on our website, tucsonmorningblend.com,. we also link to the website where you can go vote for your favorite dish or your favorite beautiful young lady. voting starts tomorrow. >> you can watch them on our website. >> next week we'll talk with a woman who played an angel on tv, roma downey. >> we'l be unwinding with our experiment reporter with stars from silence of the lambs. >> model from 40, how to keep the fire burning this valentine's day. >> see you monday.</media:text>

<media:text>arizona is calling on kids to help inspire healthy eating habits with the seventh annual walk-on cooking challenge. >> today we have teresa from the blue cross blue shield of arizona joining us along with ADDISON McCARTY, ONE OF THE five finalists that will make her healthy recipe that she hopes will win it all. thanks for coming on the show. the kids are getting creative, aren't they? >> yes. >> why did blue cross blue shield take this on? >> blue cross blue shield of arizona is looking to encourage kids into eating healthier, making it more of a habit. >> uh-huh. what is it that you think that everyone, because we know obesity's so prevalent in this nation, what can everyone learn from kids particularly with this contest? >> everybody can learn to eat healthy, get in the kitchen, stay away from the video games, take a break from the tv, bring your parents in, and really make this a family affair. >> and maybe it's not as tough as people think it is, right? >> addison, that's really big, i can't even se teresa from here. i have to lean forward. addison, about your -- is this a snack, is it a -- i mean, it looks really good, what would you call it? >> it could be a side, it could be a dessert. >> it's very good. so walk us through the ingredients. how many different fruits and stuff do you have on it? >> the rainbow. >> yeah. >> like so many it's just hard to name them. strawberries and raspberries, oranges and pineapple. >> basically just throw in all your favorites, right? >> a kabob. >> on one stick. >> did you help mom cut, did you stay away from the knife a little bit? >> i cut some, my mom cut some. >> yeah. and i want to know about this part right here because that looks really, really good, i like this plate, it's so pretty. what's inside? >> all that is yogurt, greek yogurt, stay it a whole bunch to get it creamier and sugar-free chocolate syrup. >> why did you decide on sugar-free, why is that important? >> i know sugar is -- sugar-free things are healthier than things that have sugar. >> yeah. and then the combination with the yogurt and with the seeing-free, this deliciousness arcs i was like, what is that, chocolate, what is that. tell us how you came up with that idea, how did you came up with it? >> well, my mom gave me the idea of putting chocolate in it. >> but i bet you got creative with it it and made it fun. >> yeah. >> why did you decide to get in the contest? >> i love cooking and i've never been in a cooking, like i've never -- >> been in a contest. yeah. >> with cooking. so i thought i might take a shot at it. >> and you made it to the top five so good for you. >> yay! congratulations. this is one of the dishes, teresa, that we can vote for in this contest. tell us how is it that we can actually go about doing it for any of the dishes we feature on the show this week. >> anyone can go right online at www.azblue.com/walk-on starting february 11-21. main ingredient is fruit. it doesn't have to be one specific one. very high in fiber and good vitamins as well. >> addison, why would you say that folks should vote for your very creative and very beautiful dish? >> well, because it has a whole bunch of different fruits, it's really colorful. >> and it can be any fruit you want, right? >> so not only healthy but pretty, too, right? >> and you also have a choice of dipping it or not. >> that's true. >> so you could have it multiple different ways. >> i like that. what are some of the other things you do to stay healthy? >> well, i actually just joined a softball team the other day. >> good for you. >> good for you. >> i used to do volleyball. i go on walks with my family and i'm in multiple different sporting clubs at my school. >> wow, that's really great. i was going to ask you about your friends and whether they're as healthy as you are but it sounds like they're fit as well. tell us about that. >> i have one friend who is not as fit as the other of us so i'm trying to help him -- >> eat healthier, because it makes you feel good right, when you eat healthy food and they can be delicious, too, right? >> yes. >> what would you normally pack in your lunchbox, give me an idea, i bet it's pretty healthy. >> so i have a sandwich, i pack a yogurt, sometimes i pack a fruit and a yogurt. >> i think now you're going to pack a lot more fruits, right. >> a kabob. >> i think we have to wrap soon but i'd like to give this a try. i forget, do you go in like that? >> cavemen. >> this is how i've always eaten them, right? so good. thank you so much for coming on. and teresa, we're not going to forget about you. >> thank you. >> thank you so much, ladies, good job, addison. and you can help decide the winner of the 2012 walk-on kids cooking contest starting on february 11, log on to azblue.com/walk-on to vote for your favorite. >> eat it as a weapon. >> "the morning blend" will</media:text>

<media:text>>> all right, guys. we have to deal with this at some point in our life. some form or fashion. eventually, some of us family hebs will have to consider alternative living situations. if we are going do that, we have to go with the best and aware of what makes a difference in people's lives and what doesn't. it is all about what is significant. join me now. marquee manager. good importanting. >> dash good morning. >> good morning. >> we have 62 locations across the state of indiana. and 24 in the greater indianapolis area. >> and you guys are doing things a little bit different in a lot of different ways. right? >> exactly. well, all started last year. you know, we started looking at 62 locations. communities have a reputation of investing a lot back in the buildings. and really being physically responsible. well, last year, we had 62 locations. and to do the advertising and marketing individually, it makes it more. we decided to hire a bolton group that was brilliant in helping to put together one campaign that everyone can use and customize it for the market. each of the markets. >> okay. makes sense. >> so, we were -- >> everybody under the same umbrella. >> right. makes good branding sense. >> very excited. about the message. you know, benson, our ceo, people can duplicate our programs and they can duplicate our ads and even our wallpaper, so they can never duplicate our employees. so, caring people makes a difference. organically from that. >> both who came up with the idea. florence henderson. >> yes. >> approaching her. she would take them to this. she has her own talk show thousand as well. very focused on senior health care issues. wonderful representation. good fit for us in our mission and values. >> yes. >> what? >> all right. >> making friends there in the commercial. >> sorry. >> that is -- like you say, it is all about the people. and that is right. >> the heart of what you guys do. >> right. will continue to do. >> absolutely. >> what is the cutoff here? age range are we looking at? >> well, you know, 65 and older. >> yeah. you have some service line force some. 55 and older with our new energy. >> we have a wide variety. >> our mission, and our focus is to senior health care. short term rehabilitation. and the memory care. we have a very special program with the cottage that serves us with alzheimer's disease. special program that we are proud of. >> fabulous. all right. good to talk to you. more information. we aren't talking about -- stopping there. >> sorry i blurted there. when you see someone on tv you know, you react. that someone is sitting right next to you. ryan an edna, they are in the commercial with florence henderson. now, you know, i'm not a doctor but play one on the tv. you were sort of playing the roles of your jobs, right? what do you do? >> i'm the executive director at one of the facilities called bethany village. it is absolute honor to be at the campaign. asked to do the campaign. it is more of an honor to represent the hundreds of people that take care of the greatest generation. folks who paved the way for so many of us. fought for the rights. it is a big family. called the home because we love these folks. >> what do you do? >> i am the director of nursing. i am at forest creek village which is in our community. and, i can attest to what ryan said. we truly love what we do as director of nursing knowing that i have the able to help someone heal. it truly brings me joy. we truly love what we do. >> your job titles showcase obviously you have a lot of responsibility. but it sounds like that responsibility is something you take with your staff. that is with the campaign. thought the people in the positions. >> certainly not. >> that is the biggest part that makes it different. to the people who are there, taking care of the loved ones. it is wonderful mission. we love what we do. we come in. not being the executive director. being that person the families, when you are going through the hard time. wanting to speak to someone. come to us. relate to us. we can bond with them and help them through these challenging times. it is just, nothing better than we can do than to serve those that have paved the way for us. >> becoming extended family. >> absolutely. absolutely. i think that is key as the director of nursing and nursing. period. getting on the floor. spending time with the residents. meeting them. making them a great first impression. letting them know that we truly do care about their welfare. about them getting well. and getting back home if that is the goal. it is definitely resident center, patient centered care that we offer there. >> i caught the commercial last weekend and thought it was a good job representing. >> you have florence henderson. i talked to perez hilton. i don't want to get catty about florence henderson. what was that experience like?
