want you to look at this picture taken 90 years ago...see the ladies getting into that car..that car was made here. it was a fledgling just emerging from the nest... the automobile...henry ford was making one caled the motel t...someone thought they could make one in shreveport sot...it was high end...2500 dolars back when the motel t was 300 bucks... some of that early oil money on fairfield ave. might have attracted a mr charles bour and mr robert davis to shreveport... sot.they got run off from indiana because could not make payrol.they put everything on freight cars and shipped it to shreveport.... from 1917 to 1923...the bour davis was assembled in a factory in cedar grove by the louisiana motor company this is a picture of a new one just off the assembly line... they even had a contest name that car.. sot...the winer named it the louisianan... mr bour and davis didn't like that hello that's why we have a bour davis.... sot..if i wanted to go faster i would pull it this way and down was wide open dick nelson knows a lot about the bour davis....he's a collector of old cars...but couldn't find one of these until he found a picture and made a phone cal sot.yea i still got it but i don't know where it is. turns out it was partially buried in a field in indiana.. nelson and members of the antique and classic car association began a 20 year odyssey to bring the old bour davis back to life. sot...we bought engines in new jersey..we bought an old body door in san diego.we found things at swap meets we had people come up with what they thought was an old bour davis part from back in the day. and here she is the only bour davis in existence in the world..... beautiful to look at..tough to drive... sot...you had be a real man....there is no power anything... the bour ever. and that means more expensive maintenance, over the life of your vehicle. rick jackson is here, looking out for you. the average car is now 11 years old. whether you've got a clunker or a collector, there are some simple things you can do to keep your ride running smoothly. it starts with the basics. the experts at edmunds.com recommend you check your tire pressure once a month and inflate if necessary. this will improve your gas mileage, the overall life of your tires, and ensure your car can respond efficiently in an emergency. rotating your tires helps them wear at the same rate. you can extend the life of your engine and get more miles out of every tank by changing your air filter every year or 12-thousand miles. and keep up with routine oil changes. whatever you do, don't ignore the "check engine light". car m-d says that light could simply be telling you to check your gas cap. those are very simple and easy to do things. but sometimes people just get so caught up wuth everything else, car care falls by the wayside. i'm sure there are some other things we can do to keep the engines running smoothly. of course. here are a few more things to keep in mind: if your oxygen sensor is faulty...ignoring it could add up to an additional $900 a year in gas. bad spark plugs or ignition coils will also eat into gas mileage and could damage your catalytic converter. and that's a part you really don't want to ignore. the cost to replace a catalytic converter could easily top one-thousand dollars. if you want to save a trip to the mechanic and diagnosis a problem yourself, there are a number of engine light code readers available for purchase online. if you do go to an auto repair shop, don't be afraid to get a second opinion. i'm rick jackson, looking out for
