Soldier will go to Afghanistan or Iraq; wife speaks out how she feels.

event to say thank you and show show the men and women they are america's heroes. as we welcome home those heroes others are getting ready to say goodbye. you could end up spending more time on the battlefield than in your own backyard. >> it's family fun most of us can relate to. proud parents and part-time referees of the sibling smackdown. but this backyard bliss is continually interrupted. >> so much is lost. a whole year he was gone. that's a year we won't get back. >> and sergeant has numerous awards for his excellence on the job but his wife lori worries he is missing out on the most important distinction: dad of the year. >> i'm so proud of what he does but it breaks my heart that he's gone. it's really hard. it's hard for everybody. hard for him, hard for the kids, hard for me. >> reporter: he'll become the man of the house for the fourth time when his daddy leaves in august and the sergeant will miss the birth of his fourth child. >> they're putting so much on the line, their families, their kids, their wives. >> we miss him. >> reporter: kim wagner, news 3. >> you have to feel for him. he'll if be going to afghanistan or iraq in august and gone for six months. he's going to miss the birth of his baby by two months. his wife's due date is october. >>> may is cancer awareness month and we are watching out for you with important sun safety tips.
