verything down because it makes up such a majority of gdp. also want to talk about some earnings reports. one of them is a company that makes things, emerson electric. the company said first quarter earnings were higher by 27% on demand from refineries. they beat analysts' estimates on a per-share basis by two pennies a share. it' s a look at those shares -- if you look at those shares, we have a bit more volume, the shares are rising. we also want to talk about duke energy. they just sold off a unit which was more of a pipeline company. now they are more of a utility company. excluding items, the company came in 3 cents above expectations. the forecast for the full year in line with expectations as well. incidentally, utilities are interesting because of this group tends to do well when rates are going lower. we see some dividend competition here. as you can see coming year to date, the group has pulled back 3% but is hire 10% over the last year. back to you. >> stock futures continued to fall in reaction to the ism report. the first contraction since march 2003. we will talk about the market impact with a market director. keep it here on "starting bell."
