Mardi Gras Goes to the Dogs! One of World’s Biggest Pet Parades Marks 15-Year Milestone Thousands of Costumed Pets to Take to the Streets to Help Homeless Animals One of the world’s biggest pet parades is still going strong, and the “pawty” just gets better and better. More than 8,000 pets and 80,000 people in Mardi Gras-inspired costumes line the streets of St. Louis’ very own French Quarter to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Beggin’ Strips Barkus Pet Parade. It’s not Mardi Gras without a coronation as pets dressed to impress strut their stuff to win the titles of ‘King’ and ‘Queen’ of the parade. Herds of dachshunds, packs of pugs and troops of terriers show off collaborative efforts for the brand new group title of ‘Most Loyal Subjects.’ In the end, every pet walks away a winner. All parade registration fees benefit homeless animals at a local no-kill animal shelter. Produced for Purina « Less
